grad Našice (town of Nasice)

DescriptionNasice
Nasice was first mentioned in 1229. In medieval documents it was reffered to as: Nolko, Nolche, Negke, Nexe, Nekche, Vesice i Nesice.

Secular rulers of Nasice and the Nasice demesne were the Abas, David Lackovic, Ivan Korvin, Ivan and Nikola Gorjanski, and the Counts of Ilok (Ujlaky de Illok). In the ecclesiastical sense its owners were Templars, Knights Hospitaller and Franciscans. In 1734 the Nasice demesne was bought by Counts of Pejacevics and had remained in their possesion until 1945.

Nasice is a town of long history abundant with cultural historic monuments. The classicist Pejacevic family manor is one of the most beautiful structures in the region. Pejacevics have also built a smaller one-story hunting manor in the spacious park. Located in the town is the neo-Gothic chapel with the crypt of the Pejacevic family. The tomb of composer Dora Pejacevic is near the chapel.

Also here are the Gothic-Baroque Franciscan monastery and the parish church of St. Anthony of Padua, reconstructed in the 18th century in Baroque style with a lavishly decorated oratory featuring the coat of arms of the Pejacevics and iron grating unrivalled in the whole Croatia. Church has an interesting sepulchral slab with an image of father Nikola Olovcic, an organ, and in the center of sacristy there is a very rare and valuable huge cupboard abundantly decorated with Rococo decorations and four corner cupboards. Church survived the Turkish rule and a new belfry was erected in 1714.

Located between Fericanaci and Donja Moticina is the small church of St. Martin, once single-naved late-Romanic church.

Sports opportunities comprise tennis courts, football ground with accompanying facilities, boating on the fishpond and lakes.

Rich hunting grounds can be found in the immediate surroundings, and the Nasicka Breznica fishpond and Lapovac Lake offer fine angling opportunities. Slavonian cuisine, venison and freshwater fish are a part of the gastronomic offerings of the town and its surroundings. In the nearby Markovac Nasicki there is a private zoo of the Bizik family.
