Der Donau-Zusammenfluss (The Danube Confluence)
Description | The two rivers, Breg and Brigach, unite to form the Danube at the base of marble sculpture from Franz Xaver Reich. The sculpture shows the "Mother Baar holding the young Danube as a child in her lap." Close to the palace in the park, a small stream flows from the Danube spring into the Brigach. |

Der Hanselbrunnen (The Hansel Fountain)
Description | The Hansel Fountain was given by Julius Kirsner to the citizens of Donaueschingen in 1913. The fountain depicts a Hansel, a historic figure from the Donaueschingen carnival celebration. The Hansel is a good-natured character, and the decorations shown on his costume symbolize the battle between the departing winter and the arriving-spring. |

Diana Brunnen (Diana Fountain)
Description | The fountain was commissioned by Prince Max Egon II of Fürstenbeg to commemorate the fourth Donaueschingen visit of Emperor Wilhelm II in 1904. The "Diana" motif was a suggestion of the emperor. |

Die Karlstraße mit Jugendstilelementen (The Karl Street - An ensemble of Art Nouveau Buildings)
Description | Many of the buildings along Karl Street are adorned with art nouveau elements. After the big fire of 1908, the buildings were reconstructed with a city-architectural masterplan in mind. Much attention was given to stylistic details. The wrought are narrow and high, and many bays are adorned with gold ornamentations. The steph-gabled walls, for instance at the Thedy buidling (Karlstr. 11) were supposed to serve as fire barriers. |

Donauquelle (The Danube Spring)
Description | The source of the River Danube is a so-called "Karstaufstoßquelle". It has been as the historical source of the Danube ever since the Roman general Tiberius visited it in 15 BC. The source is framed in a romantic wrought iron basin, which lies in the palace grounds right next to the Prince of Fürstenberg's palace. The sculptured scene by Adolf Heer decipts "Mother Baar" with the young Danube. |

Description | One section of the museum houses temporary exhibitions of world-renowned contemporary art. The museum is also home to a natural history collection assembled in the 19th century. This collection has remained largely untouched since its beginnings. As such, the natural history collection documents the museum traditions in Germany. The existence of two such completely divergent collections within a single museum and the contrasts between the two ist particularly exciting. Description | The architectural history of this imposing palace goes back to the 16th century. It took on its present-day appearance when it was renovated between 1893 and 1896. The palace combines the demands of prestige with the comfortable living conditions required by a Belle Epoque villa. The architectural style certainly followed the example set by the French. This makes it unique among Germany's palaces. Guided tours for groups can be arranged by appointment. |

Description | There are a number of additional very interesting attractions located in the outer lying communities of Donaueschingen. The Entenburg castle, built in 1471, lies on the shore of the danube in Pfohren. The St. Mauritius church in Grüningen is home to wall paintings from the 14th century. In addition, the Fürstenberg princes' mausoleum, located at the former site of a medieval castle in Neudingen and the St. Hilarius church in Heidenhofen are both art historical highlights of the area. |

Rathaus und Musikantenbrunnen (City Hall and Musicians' Fountain)
Description | The city hall was originally built in 1838 but it was destroyed by fire 70 years later. The art nouveau building which stands today was constructed in 1910-11. The massive entrance as well as the vaulted meeting chamber are characteristic for this architectural style. A window in the meeting chamber depicts the city fire of 1908. The Musicans' Fountain in the city square was built by Bonifatius Stirnberg. It was erected in 1989 at the occasion of the celebration of the city's 1100 year long history. |

Description | The church in its current from was built in the first half of the 18th century, replacing an earlier late gothic building. The church, built in the Bohemian baroqu, complemented the then still young residence of Prince Joseph William Ernst of Fürstenberg's by adding its own architectural accents. |
